"I believe that thought, which can in some cases be used interchangeably
with 'mind', is the key. It makes us human instead of animal, causes
us to question, and is ironically somewhat separated from the physical
while convincing us of its reality. An investigation of thought can
be the only reliable path to the determination of truth. The mind
of any one human being can be as representative of the human condition
as another. Since my mind and thoughts are the only ones that I believe
I can ever be capable of understanding fully on all levels, I investigate
my psyche as it grows and changes. The communication of thought is
where the arts become invaluable. The arts in general relate to a
place in the human experience that is closer to the place where understanding
is 'all at one-ce'. With visual arts, in particular, it is possible,
through form and color, to communicate all the nuances of understanding,
both consciously and subconsciously." |
